I think the ballast resistor on my truck has gone bad but i'm not sure how to tell if it is no not that I recall, we just replaced them they were not expensive and if the car fired up after replacing it we had our answer, and you now know one of a number of reasons I stopped messing around with them old dodges, I got tired of replacing parts less than five bucks that could keep you parked over, and over again. good luck simple test here, locate it, bypass it. if the truck starts after that, go find a new one. if it does not start move on to the next idea. you could have a blown fuse in that circuit. They only cost a few bucks...replace it if unsure. Or do a resistance check at the terminals...volts at the output should drop slightly ...2-3 volts...compared to input....not sure of amount. Last Dodge I had was a 69 Charger 440 with similar setup...drop was @ 3 volts. Ram . Purpose of a Transmission ModulatorThe purpose of a transmission modulator is to decide when a transmission shift should occur. It also informs the transmission of the type of load being placed on it. Pressure is regulated by the transmission modulator as well, allowing the transmission to function smoothly. Problems There are several problems that can occur with a transmission modulator, most of which happen naturally over a period of time. The modulator's diaphragm is subject to rupturing, and leaks are known to occur as well. These types of problems in a modulator cause driving issues and may even cause the transmission to fail altogether. Inspect Often the first thing you'll want to inspect is the line leading to the transmission modulator. If transmission fluid is visible once you disconnect the line, this indicates a leaking diaphragm. The modulator can also be checked for leaks directly using a handheld vacuum pump. Remove A transmission modulator can be removed from the transmission so it can be replaced. Before pulling the modulator from its housing unit, the retaining bolt and clamp will have to be untightened first. Because the actuating pin could fall when the modulator is being pulled out, special care should be taken to avoid losing it.

A broken through-hull or hose can allow 79 gallons or water per minute or over 4,700 gallons per hour into a boat's hull, according to marine expert Alan Ross Hugenot. A properly installed and wired bilge pump can help you reach the shore safely instead of abandoning a sinking boat. A bilge pump wired for three-way operation allows the pump to be continuously operated, automatically controlled by a float switch or turned off. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Wire crimping tool Wire strippers Heat shrink Butt connectors Heat gun Float switch Bilge pump Three-way bilge pump switch Step by Step : 1 Connect the bilge pump's black wire to the negative battery terminal. If necessary, extend the wire using a butt connector and length of wire. Strip back the ends of both wires using a wire stripper. Crimp the butt connector with a wire crimping tool. Slide a piece of heat shrink over the butt connector, and apply a heat gun. Remove the wing nut off the battery's negative cable. Crimp a ring connector to the end of the wire. Install the wire onto the negative battery terminal. Reinstall and tighten the wing nut on the terminal. 2 Connect the bilge pump's brown wire to the three-way switch terminal labeled "pump." Extend the wire with a butt connector and length of wire. Apply heat shrink over the butt connector. 3 Wire the float switch to the three-way switch. Extend both float switch wires. Connect one wire to the terminal marked "auto." Connect the other wire to the terminal marked "pump." 4 Connect a wire from the three-way switch's "battery" terminal to a fuse holder. Connect the fuse holder to the positive battery terminal. Insert a properly rated fuse per the pump instructions' guidelines. 5 Test the bilge pump. Briefly set the three-way switch to the "On" position. The bilge pump should now be running. Set the switch to the "auto" position. Lift the float switch. The bilge pump should turn on when the float switch is lifted and shut off when the float is lowered. Tips & Warnings Use only marine-grade pre-tinned wire to ensure corrosion resistance. Consult the bilge pump installation instructions for proper wire size recommendations. Alternatively, determine the correct wire size from the American Boat and Yacht Council's, or ABYC's, table of wire size recommendations for a 3 percent voltage drop.
